In 2022-2023 HSI launched a comprehensive campaign to fund exterior renovations and a long-term capital fund for future maintenance at the Bowditch House.

Our project team worked diligently to secure over $100,000 in grant funds. We are grateful to have this important preservation work recognized and funded in part by: the Massachusetts Historical Commission, Salem’s Community Preservation Committee, and Preservation Massachusetts and the 1772 Foundation.

Donors were asked to help fund the final $50,000 needed to finish line and get the maintenance fund off to a strong start. As we replace our roof and look to sustain HSI into the future we thank you for any gift that will support future maintenance of the Bowditch House as well as Historic Salem’s preservation leadership.

Ultimately, your donation to Historic Salem, Inc. supports our mission to ensure that Salem's historic resources are preserved for future generations and that new development complements the historic character of the city.

Thank you to donors who support our Bowditch Preservation Fund
